European Shambhala Health Weekend in Vienna

“According to Shambhala tradition, people are basically and intrinsically good; or in Buddhist terms, people inherently possess Buddha nature. That is, from these points of view, health is intrinsic. That is, health comes first; sickness is secondary. Health is. […] This attitude is not recommended exclusively for the patients or for the helpers or doctors. It can be adopted mutually because intrinsic goodness is always present in any interaction of one human being with another.”
– Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

Building on the recent Shambhala health conference in Chicago, USA in September 2017 and a long tradition of teachings on health by Chögyam Trungpa and Sakyong Mipham we are happy to invite you to this first European Shambhala health gathering.

Why this weekend? We believe that there is so much to understand about unconditional health!

Please join us for a weekend where we explore, discover and exchange our experiences, insights and questions about basic healthiness. From this, we can deepen our understanding of the unique contribution of the teachings of Shambhala on how to improve health, wellbeing and health care. Therefore this weekend aims to create diverse spaces of exploration and exchange on:
• your personal experience and understanding of unconditional health
• your (professional) helping experience – discovering unconditional health in interaction and others

We also will provide time and space for other health-related topics that may emerge during the weekend. In relying on our insights and human exchange we aim to mix the Shambhala teachings with the experience of personal health and health or wellbeing practice.

Who is invited?

Members of Shambhala who are either:
• working in physical or mental healthcare (conventional, complementary or alternative) or in improving wellbeing
• currently patients or dealing with health issues
• or have other professional or personal involvement in healthcare or wellbeing

How do we go about our exploration?

The weekend will include short teachings during the plenary, individual meditation and contemplation, exchange in dyads and smaller group contemplative work.
