The Refuge Vow is the formal commitment of making the decision to dedicate oneself wholeheartedly to the Buddhist path - To further one's practice and training by following the example of the Buddha, his teachings (the dharma), and joining the community (sangha) of fellow practitioners. Family and friends warmly invited to witness the Refuge Vow and to stay for the reception following the vows.
Preparations For the Refuge Vow (Contact your meditation instructor for guidance):
- At least six months of regular sitting meditation practice
- “The Three Jewels” Class, offered Three Wednesday evenings, Sept. 5, 12 & 19
- Reading: The Refuge Vow Sourcebook available through the Shambhala Center
Registration Deadline: October 22
Fees: $20 for the Refuge Practice Liturgy
